CHECKLIST

PRESTART

  • fuel shutoff-on
  • trim E+2 A+3 R+1
  • supercharger low
  • mixture - idle cutoff
  • prop full increase rpm
  • throttle open cracked
  • speed brake off
  • carburetor air - direct
  • cowl & oil cooler flaps open
  • gear handle down
  • landing lights off
  • windshield & canopy defrost on
  • oxygen pressure 1000psi min
  • Oxygen diluter - 100%
  • ignition off
  • dc power off
  • pitot heater off
  • inverter ON
  • Control shift - energized
  • navigation and cockpit light as desired
  • radios off
  • gear position indicator down
  • fuel pressure 13 psi min
  • battery voltage 22V minimum
  • Field barometric pressure - check

STARTING PROCEDURE

  • DC POWER - bat&gen
  • Starter - depress/turn through 12 blades minim
  • ignition both
  • primer depress
  • when engine starts - 1000-1200 rpm
  • mixture rich
  • oil pressure rise - check 40psi
  • APU used - disconnect then dc power bat&gen
  • inverter circuit breaker - in

PRETAXI CHECK

  • warm-up 1200-1600rpm
  • radio equipment as desired
  • flaps up
  • hydraulic pressure 1250 to 1650 psi
  • altimeter set field barometric pressure
  • clock - set
  • engine instruments - check
  • fuel quantity - check
  • attitude gyro - erected
  • gyro compass slaved and aligned
  • ignition 750rpm check L R OFF BOTH

TAXI

  • release brakes, roll straight ahead, and test brakes
  • taxi - 750 to 950 rpm
  • Check turn and bank indicator and gyro magnetic compass during turns
  • operate at 1200 rpm when stopped
  • taxi on hard surface areas
  • turn into wind for engine run-up

BEFORE TAKE OFF / ENGINE RUNUP

  • prop - full increase rpm
  • check drop to 1175-1250rpm at full decrease, return
  • loadmeter, voltmeter - check (0.3-0.5 / 23)
  • SUPERCHARGER - check HIGH/LOW
  • engine power - check, MAP at barometric presure : 2175+/-75 rpm
  • ignition - check 2300rpm
  • OIl pressure/idle rpm - check 1800rpm, 65psi minimum/750rpm
  • mixture check -idle engine, MIXTURE to IDLE CUTOFF, 0-25 rpm rise prior to drop, return
  • radios tuned and checked
  • flight instruments - ckecked

TAKE-OFF CHECK LIST

  • trim E+2 A+3 R+1
  • flaps up
  • canopy full closed
  • fuel on, fuel pressure, full fuel load, fuel boost pump circuit breaker in
  • supercharger low
  • prop - full increase rpm
  • mixture - rich
  • align nose wheel with runway and hold brakes
  • throttle - 30inch MP
  • engine instruments - check
  • release brakes
  • advance to 47inch MAP (max 52,5)
  • rudder effective above 30knots
  • lift off 85-90kias (no flaps) 60kias (1/2 flaps)

AFTER TAKE OFF

  • Brakes - apply, Gear up
  • Accelerate to normal climb schedule
  • Throttle 36 MAP - PROP 2400RPM

CLIMB

  • 140KIAS, 36MAP, 2400rpm
  • maintain MP during climb
  • monitor cylinder head and oil temperatures
  • high blower required above 15000ft
  • Mxture - normal at cruise altitude

CRUISE

  • 170KIAS below 10000ft
  • 155KIAS above 10000ft

DESCENT - 170KIAS

  • defrost as required
  • supercharger - low
  • mixture - rich
  • cowl flaps - closed
  • speed brake - as desired
  • power - 1400rpm/16 inch MAP
  • clear engine periodically

LANDING CHECK LIST

  • carburetor air - as required
  • supercharger - low
  • mixture - rich
  • hook - as desired
  • canopy - OPEN
  • wheels, propeller, flaps to go - 2200 rpm recommanded

LANDING

  • assume desired bank angle
  • throttle 15MAP
  • speed brake on
  • gear down (below 140KIAS)
  • speed brake - off
  • slow to 120 KIAS
  • prop control 2400rpm
